Nowadays we see . Many people believe that it is because parents spend more time at work and less with their children. Do you agree or disagree?

Today it seems that the number of social problems connected with youngsters is as great as never before. Many people claim that this issue results from the fact that in recent years more and more parents have tended to neglect their parental responsibilities inasmuch as they have to work long hours. In my opinion, there are many facts indicating that this position is right.

First of all, it has been proved by psychologists that children must have a certain amount of personal contact with both parents every day for normal development. And although time of this contact measures in minutes, there are many parents who cannot afford to dedicate even such a short time to maintain a contact with their kids. Meanwhile, the consequences may be horrible. Youngsters, who suffer from a lack of interaction with their parents, more often than not have some kind of emotional disorder. Such children can be easily involved in antisocial activities and tend to demonstrate deviant behaviours.

Moreover, it is worthy to note that nowadays teenagers are being exposed to a great amount of information including information which is not suitable and appropriate for their age. Without parental control and guidance, it is easy for them to confuse acceptable and accusable behaviours. In addition, from time to time parents try to compensate their neglecting by significant amount of pocket money. This, combined with lack of control, is fertile ground for underage drinking and drug abuse.

In the light of the facts outlined above, one can conclude that spending more time at work and, therefore, less time with children leads to various social problems connected with teenagers.
